This week I wanted to talk about three sure ways to maintain a healthy heart. One way of ensuring wellness is by having a healthy heart. Keeping track of your medication and frequently visiting your doctor are some of the options that will ensure that your heart is not only safe but also healthy and protected.  To easily maintain a healthy heart, consider the following:

Ensure your heart is always strong

You should regularly take your heart medications to regulate your blood pressure, heartbeat, and even control the cholesterol levels.  Anytime you stop taking your medications, you risk developing some heart complications such as heart attack or increased blood pressure.  My advice to you would be to consult your doctor or a cardiologist in any case you would wish to stop taking your medications. Studies show that there has been a rise in the cases of emergency surgeries due to skipping or rescheduling of doctor’s appointments by patients who have heart-related diseases.

Keeping in touch with your cardiologist helps you understand your health situation. Understandably, making physical visits during each appointment might be tiring hence forcing some people to skip their sessions.  Fortunately, through technological advancements attending to your doctor’s appointments has been made easier. Your doctor can now virtually come to you through telemedicine cardiology. All you need to have is your smartphone, and you can get to have your appointment with the doctor at the very comfort of your home. No more hustles of having to travel to go see your cardiologist. Through telemedicine, you can frequently discuss issues relating to your heart health, raise concerns, and have your questions answered. Your cardiologist is also in a position of adjusting your prescriptions as he watches on your progress. Continuous communication with your doctor will ensure that you are always at your best, and your heart health stays healthy.

Once you take a day’s prescription, you can cross it off so that you don’t get confused.
  • Download a reminder app: you could use your phone to download reminder apps that will help you keep track of your medications.
  • Set an alarm: one of the easiest ways to get through with managing your medication is to set an alarm for every time you are supposed to take a dose.
  • Consider asking for help: in case you are not able to personally manage your medication, you could ask for assistance from your family, friend, or even your neighbour.
