About Woodies

The brainchild of plant-medicine and natural health fanatic Jamie Wood, Woodies is an exciting, innovative online company committed to providing our customers with the highest quality 90+% pure CBD oil (1). All of our fully quality-controlled and certified natural products are additive-free. Containing a full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes, our hemp-flower oil is guaranteed to enhance your CBD experience (2).

Woodies was conceived three years ago when Jamie, step-son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, had a heart attack and was ordered by doctors to make some drastic lifestyle changes  - including quitting smoking. Forced to turn his back on his Rock ‘n’ Roll lifestyle, Jamie began a journey towards health, wellbeing and satisfaction - hoping on the way to fill the void left by his 20-a-day habit!

Jamie finally found what he was looking for on a business trip to the States where he enjoyed the relaxing effects of pure cannabidiol for the first time - what he describes as a “life-changing event”. Eager for friends and family to experience it too, Jamie has made it his mission to bring pure, high quality cannabidiol to the UK and his company Woodies is the result of this passion and determination.

What is CBD?

If you already take CBD you are certainly not alone. Its popularity has soared since the MHRA classed it as a medicine and therefore legal in 2016 – and there are now around 300,000 users in the UK (3). CBD is undoubtedly the wellness product of the moment and an ever-increasing and diverse range of products continues to flood the market. In fact, CBD sales are now worth an estimated £300 million annually, a figure expected to rise to around £1 billion by 2025 (4).

Cannabidiol is one of over 100 cannabinoids in the cannabis sativa plant and accounts for up to 40% of its make-up. Experts believe that cannabinoids work within the endocannabinoid system, the principal function of which is to restore and maintain homeostasis, or stability, within the body as a whole by influencing many of its processes relating to:

  • Pain
  • Digestion
  • Metabolism
  • Inflammation/Immune Response
  • Motor control
  • Mood
  • Cardiovascular System Function
  • Liver Function
  • Stress
  • Skin and Nerve Function
  • Bone Remodelling and Growth
  • Learning and Memory
  • Sleep
  • Muscle Formation

Put simply, if you are in pain or have a fever, for example, this could be a sign your body has become unstable, so the endocannabinoid system sends messages to different parts of the body telling them to take action to reduce the pain or fight the fever which restores stability and makes you feel better.

It is believed that cannabidiol in particular actually interacts with cannabinoids already present in the endocannabinoid system, helping to influence these functions meaning it could potentially help to treat:

  • Chronic pain
  • Arthritis
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Type 1 Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Menopause
  • PTSD
  • OCD
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Acne

Research is ongoing into its ability to treat Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, obesity, epilepsy, respiratory diseases and cancer (5).

Is it Legal?

Although the recent legalisation of CBD (6) has prompted a change in attitudes, many people continue to associate its use with getting “high” and awareness regarding the difference between CBD and THC (7) - both major components of the cannabis sativa plant - needs to increase in order to remove this stigma.

All of our products contain only CBD oil extracted from the flowers of the hemp plant, which contains no more than 0.2% of the psychoactive substance THC, meaning it won’t get you “high” and is therefore completely safe and legal.
